These Pretzels Are Making Me Thirsty!

In my last post, I referenced NBC's Must See TV, which for me, was a Thursday night ritual during most of my college years.

Well it seems one of My Heroes has lost his mind. A man, who I tuned in every week to see how he was going to make me laugh out loud, went nuts over the weekend at The Laugh Factory in Los Angeles, CA.

I cannot find the words to describe what Michael Richards (aka Cosmo Kramer) did over the weekend, so here it is:

See, I told you, the man lost his mind! Here is Jerry Seinfeld helping him make his apology on The Late Show with David Letterman:

It seems like he is truly sorry. Unfortunately, this probably killed what remaining career he had. I just hope that I can still enjoy Seinfeld. Time shall tell.

Baba Ganoush, OUT!

This really is quite unfortunate. It's a bummer.

Yeah, I fear he won't be picking up any new show on the WB in the near future. He should have just stuck with bursting through the door with a wild look in his eyes.

I am amazed how angry he became on stage. I said "Ohmigod" the exact same time the audience member did. As angry as I may become at times, I would never go into a racial tirade such as this. He is a racist.

His buttons were being pushed from the heckling. Since the heckler was black, he responded to the one word that any black person would be outraged by. And that was all it was...

Buford

Yeah, I think most people would agree that this was just an unfortunate incident.

I would have to disagree with Buford though. The thing is, I really like Michael Richards, and I want to make excuses and defend him too, but I can't. No matter what his beliefs are as a professional, you cannot do what he did - racist or not. Personally, I would like to think he's not racist.

I have friends that are comics, and have performed at the Laugh Factory, and I would assume that heckling is part of being a comic. And much like it is unacceptable for an athlete (Ron Artest) to go into the stands, it is not acceptable to react to heckling like that.

Dunno. At the end of the day it seems like he is sorry, I hope he is not racist, and long live Cosmo Kramer!

Oh yeah, BSB - my roommates and I had that bet in college, and let's just say I lasted about 5 minutes longer than Kramer.

I am certainly NOT King of the Castle!

I agree that when people are angry, they use something convenient. If a woman is mad at her friend, it's "bitch" or "whore" when they know full well that is not what kind of person she is. Just like the man calling him "cracker ass" etc in retaliation. Does that make that man a racist as well? I think he was way out of line, but hate to define him by that one moment. I think you have to really know that person to know for sure. Just my 2 cents!

jlee - I agree. He seems to be doing A LOT of damage control. He has admitted to having some pent up rage towards people of color, but I do not think that makes him a racist.

Thanks for your 2 cents! I appreciate the banter.

Yeah, some bad stuff. It wasn't done in a funny way, it was so angry! But, people make mistakes and deserve a second chance, I suppose. Hey, at least he wasn't that mean towards us Arabs! :)
